Apple Investing in Toshiba LCD Plant [Digital Daily]

Come 2011, Toshiba will begin construction of a new LCD panel factory in Ishikawa, one whose output is intended largely for the iPhoneReportedly underwriting a portion of its $1.19 billion cost: Apple, which is evidently looking for a bit more control over its component sources as demand for LCD screens grows with the proliferation of touchscreen smartphones.
Apple has not yet responded to a request for comment.
