Wanderings of Felice: Hashing in Grenada
8/7/2011
We planned our trip organised the boat and set off for Trinidad, the winds were fairly light from the east and we were hoping for a good over night sailThe passage began well we hoisted the sails and began to make slow progress, the westerly current was quite strong so we had to head more up into the wind but once the tide change the easterly current was quite helpful.
It was a nice clear night and all the stars were visible along with a full moon made for a pleasant trip, as day light approached the wind reduced to almost nothing so it was time to fire up the engine and what a surprise, nothing happened.
After an hour or so of trying all the things Andy could think was the problem and our speed was down to less than one knot, we decided the best thing to do would be to turn back and head for Grenada some 40 miles away as with no engine and the currents we would struggle to make Trinidad..
