As I sit writing this entry Mike is in the kitchen removing the last of the kitchen cabinets I have added a few pictures to the gallery for those of you who are following our This-Old-House adventures.

The air has been blue, as my Mum would have said, since Thursday evening with interesting exclamations emanating from inside the cabinets as Mike tried to figure out how to make the job a so-called gentle tearout.

We had promised the cabinets to our neighbor, Ian, for his project house on Mowatt Street We ended up only being able to give bits and pieces of the cabinets plus intact drawers and doors to Ian as Mr.

Smith built the cabinets in place for posterity An unbelievable number of nails and clamps were used as the cabinets were assembled in place and the whole project was faced with carefully cut and fitted and glued and nailed and varnished good-quality plywood.

There was no way in heck that the cabinets were coming out in a totally reusable manner With apologies to the creators of the Clue boardgame I called this blog entry “Major Turney in the Kitchen with the Sledgehammer” – or more correctly it was with a chisel, prybar, hammer, multiple screwdrivers, vicegrips, adjustable wrench, stubbornness, and lots of manly brawn..
