We are changing our plans a bit Heading to Bahia Jiqnilisco in El Salvador Going to the Barillas Marina Club for a night or two A diversion of necessity I thought all of my Banos (head/toilet) problems were over after replacing the last piece of 1 1/2" holding tank drain hose.

Surprise, surprise, not quit over I awoke midway through my rest period needing to go to the toilet I did and as I finished my duties and flushed the head I could hear gushing water and a bilge pump running.

The sound directed me to the under sink area where I discovered there was a hole in the hull of the boat allowing seawater to rush inIt is a good thing this didn't happen yesterday while we were on the volcano.

As I peered in, I could see that the seawater through hull had broken off and the water was coming through a 1 1/2" hole I knew I had bought those round tapered wooden plugs for something and this was it.

I rushed out to the back of the boat and retrieved the plugs The first one was too small then the second seemed too big and the third was even bigger I managed to partially shove the middle size into the hole and while resting on the commode holding the plug I thought this reminds me of a story about a dam.

Needless to say with a little effort and a persuasion tool, a hammer, I managed to drive the plug into the hole in the hull Thus the reason for our diversion to El SalvadorNot that this place is necessarily the best place but we didn't want to try and make another 250 miles with a plug that could pop out at any time.

So this marina will do for now If I cannot get the part to fix the hole then I will go into the water and drive the plug into the hull from the outside and put some screws into the plug on the inside to keep it from coming out.

We will be in the bahia in about 2 hours.
