Kodak to Stop Making Cameras
2/9/2012
Eastman Kodak Company has said it will stop making digital cameras, pocket video cameras and digital picture frames in the first half of 2012, in an effort to achieve annual operating savings of more than $100 million.
Rochester, N.Y.-based Kodak says it plans to expand its current brand-licensing program instead, and that it will continue to produce retail-based photo kiosks, inkjet printers, online photo gallery and apps, and camera batteries and accessories.
The announcement comes a few weeks after the iconic camera company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
